Free Bike Maintenance Classes at Earl’s Cyclery

Free Bike Maintenance Classes in South Burlington, VT

Earl’s Cyclery & Fitness is bringing back free bike maintenance classes for the whole family.

Bring the family out for a free bike maintenance class at Earl’s Cyclery & Fitness. Our first session runs Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at 6:15pm at our South Burlington shop.

These skills matter more than most people realize. Fixing a chain that pops off on the way home from school, changing a flat tire, or making a small brake adjustment can turn a frustrating breakdown into a two minute fix. Kids and teens especially benefit from learning this hands on, since it builds confidence they carry forward in life, it becomes bigger than bikes.

Maybe you already know how to do all of this yourself. This class still gives you a starting point, a shared project with your child, and a little outside instruction that backs up what you already teach at home. Sometimes parents just need that starting point too.

Our staff will walk you through the basics: checking tire pressure, adjusting brakes, keeping your chain clean, and spotting small problems before they turn into bigger repairs. These same skills can get you home after a problem pops up, or keep you moving down the trail. They build resilience, knowledge, and the confidence to turn a mishap into a solution. Bring your own bike if you have one, or just come to watch and learn.

We’re planning a few of these classes throughout the year, so check back for new dates as we add them. If your bike needs more than a tune up, our full service department handles repairs on all the brands we carry, including Trek, Giant, Salsa, and more. And if you’re shopping for a new set of wheels for the family, browse our youth and kids bikes built for young riders.

Yes. Bikes fail the same way whether you’re eight years old or eighty, and they need the same repairs either way. Whether you ride lift-served downhill, are committed to the bike path, or you’re looking for something to do with your kid, this class has something for everyone to learn.

Yes. We built this class with families in mind. Kids and teens learn hands on and walk away with a skill they’ll use for years.

Getting families out riding together matters to us beyond this one class. We choose youth and kids bikes that hold up to real riding, not just showroom bikes. We carry the helmets and safety gear that keep young riders protected. Our staff knows the local trails too and share our favorites here in our blog. Vermont has more good riding within a short drive than most people realize, and we want every family out there enjoying it.

No. These bike maintenance classes are completely free.
